Happy New Year!! Updates for Kicking Off 2022!

Happy New Year, Everyone!!

Wow, what an amazing time this has been! So much progress has happened in the past 7 months, and a lot of that has been because of ALL of YOUR help!!!!!! Thank you all so much for your support with getting the word out, writing emails, signing our petition, and for cheering us on!!

We wanted to give you all some updates as we kick off 2022:

1) We are still here!! . We are still BEYOND excited that the budget for the feasibility study was passed in November, but our work continues, even in the middle of winter!

2) We are still networking with many people for this great need for our community. We will be presenting to the Gig Harbor City Council at their meeting this Monday, and we presented to KeyPen Parks at their monthly meeting last December. If you are part of a community group here in town and would be interested is having us come share about this campaign for a public aquatic facility, please reach out to us and we'd LOVE to schedule some time with you!!

3) We will absolutely keep you all posted with information as the feasibility study begins. This study is extensive, and will take the better part of 2022. If you would like a sample of what the aquatic center feasibility study will include, check out Olympia Parks and Rec's website here: https://engage.olympiawa.gov/regional-aquatics-facilities... . They just finished their study in October, and we were on their zoom call to watch their presentation. It was very impressive!!

4) We have teamed up with SplashForward, an amazing group from Bellevue with similar goals to our campaign, so we can learn from and support one another in our efforts. One of SplashForward's ideas is to create a Puget Sound Aquatic Coalition, joining together many people from around our area who are working towards the same water safety and recreation goals. What an EXCITING thing to be part of!!

Lastly, we still need your help!! So many people still have not heard about our campaign. If you can, please help us share our Facebook group, https://www.facebook.com/groups/swimsafegigharbor and our website, tinyurl.com/swimsafegigharborwebsite . All news articles, letters of support, Q&A, and information can be found there. Thank you!!!!

That's it for now!! We are so grateful for all of your support with continuing to make water safety a priority for our town!!
